History
Hypoxic stimulation has been being used to cure disease and to effect high performance physiological changes in athletes for decades in the former USSR. Since the Olympics in Mexico City in 1968, there has been a marked increase in the interest and application of this method of maximising athletic potential. It has also proven to be highly effective in the improvement of health and well being. IHT has been demonstrated as a superior approach both in terms of ease of application and benefits acquired.
Physiology
Intermittent Hypoxic Training (IHT) is a process of adapting to low oxygen levels that simulates conditions found at slowly increasing altitudes. Studies have shown that it is not the length of exposure or training in high altitude that provides the benefit, but how often one is exposed. It is the body’s active adaptation to changing oxygen levels that makes the difference. Some well-funded athletes have been known to sleep at high altitude, train at sea level, and return to altitude to sleep. With a Go2Altitude® hypoxicator, your customers can use the technology to increase their athletic performance and get significantly greater results than mere exercise: higher energy and added stamina. With Peak Altitude’s Go2Altitude® hypoxicator, athletes and individuals can now receive the benefits of altitude … anywhere. The Go2Altitude® hypoxicator is a compact breathing apparatus that alternates periods of low oxygen intermittently with normal air. The user simply sits, relaxes, and breathes for an hour. The machine does the rest.
Sport
The body's increased aerobic capacity is the most obvious advantage of IHT to the athlete. Unlike other current hypoxic treatments The GO2Altitude® system does not require the athlete to sleep in less than ideal conditions. Nor must they reduce the duration of their training regimen by attempting it in a diminished oxygen environment. GO2Altitude® allows for the complete comfort of the athlete during their IHT treatment.
Protocol
The difference between the method that the GO2Altitude® system uses and the other leading competitors' method is best described by the word intermittent. Intermittent Hypoxic Training is a process by which the subject is exposed to a cyclic array of both diminished oxygen air and normal atmospheric air. The adjustment that the body has to make as the input air changes is what affects a greater physiological response. Our competitors are convinced that the way to maximise their patient's performance is to persuade them to sleep or train in a confined space. The Go2Altitude® system on the other hand only requires the person to sit comfortably for about an hour breathing a set program of normal and hypoxic air.
