Illness & Communicable Symptoms Policy

Effective June 2026

At Total Recovery Massage Therapy & Wellness, we strive to provide a safe environment for our patients, practitioners, and staff. We recognize that illness can occur unexpectedly, and we ask all patients to communicate responsibly if they are experiencing symptoms of illness before their appointment.

When to Attend Your Appointment

Patients are not required to be completely symptom-free to attend treatment.

If you are recovering from an illness, experiencing mild sinus congestion, seasonal allergies, a lingering cough, or other minor residual symptoms, you are generally welcome to attend your appointment provided you feel well enough to receive treatment.

Patients attending with respiratory symptoms may be asked to wear a mask during their appointment to help reduce the spread of illness within the clinic.

When to Reschedule Your Appointment

Please do not attend your appointment if you are experiencing symptoms of an active illness, including but not limited to:

  • Fever

  • Vomiting or diarrhea

  • Chills or body aches

  • Significant fatigue or weakness

  • Symptoms that would make it difficult to comfortably receive treatment

If you are experiencing these symptoms, please notify the clinic as soon as possible so we can determine the most appropriate course of action.

Communication Responsibilities

Patients are responsible for communicating changes to their health status in a timely manner.

Notification may be provided by phone, email, or through the Jane App messaging system.

While we understand that illness can develop unexpectedly, patients are expected to provide as much notice as possible when cancelling or rescheduling due to illness. Illness does not automatically exempt an appointment from the clinic's Cancellation & Missed Appointment Policy.

Requests for consideration due to illness will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and remain at the discretion of the clinic.

Repeated cancellations due to illness, family illness, or other health-related circumstances may result in restrictions on booking privileges or dismissal from the clinic. While we understand that illness and caregiving responsibilities are a normal part of life, repeated short-notice cancellations affect practitioner schedules, limit appointment availability for other patients, and impact our ability to provide consistent care. Patients who demonstrate an ongoing inability to attend scheduled appointments may be subject to booking restrictions or dismissal at the discretion of clinic management.

Children & Accompanying Guests

Patients are asked not to bring children or accompanying guests who are actively ill to the clinic.

If a child in your care develops symptoms such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or other signs of a communicable illness that may affect your ability to attend your appointment, please notify the clinic as soon as possible.

The clinic cannot accommodate patients attending appointments with a child who is actively unwell.

Shared Responsibility

Maintaining a healthy treatment environment is a shared responsibility between patients, practitioners, and staff. Open communication allows us to protect vulnerable patients, support our healthcare providers, and make appropriate scheduling decisions whenever possible.

Please note that all cancellations due to illness remain subject to the clinic's Cancellation & Missed Appointment Policy.

We appreciate your cooperation and consideration.
